Ellen DeGeneres Just Sold Her Mid-Century Modern Home – DIRT

Do you think their team is tired of moving these ladies’ things from house to house? Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have done it again, this time in 90210. Just eight months after paying $8.5 million for a mid-century modern home in the rugged mountains above Beverly Hills real estate connoisseurs have already sold the place.

The home was never on the market, although records reveal the last deal was signed for nearly $8.8 million, a relatively modest profit likely wiped out by taxes, maintenance, renovations and real estate agents’ commissions. But there may not have been real estate agent involvement in the transfer, as records also indicate that the off-market buyer just happens to be the neighbor – high-profile Hollywood mogul Guy Oseary, l Israeli-born talent agent and lifelong tech investor, best known for representing Madonna and U2.

Oseary has owned the estate adjacent to the much larger tennis court since 2005, when he bought it for around $7.4 million. In 2015, he gave up $4.3 million to acquire another adjacent property; with the addition of the former DeGeneres spread, Oseary now presides over a three-home, three-lot estate that spans nearly 2.4 contiguous acres, includes approximately 18,000 square feet of living space and has cost him a total of over $20 million.

And since that deal was off-market, it’s unclear what changes — if any — DeGeneres and de Rossi made to the home during their brief ownership. But listings from last year show the property was already in pristine condition, with a recent restoration overseen by architect John Bertram and interior designer Sarah Shetter. Inside the redwood structure are custom Douglas fir cabinetry, mid-century-appropriate terrazzo floors, Calacatta marble slabs, LED lighting, and a kitchen with high-end steel appliances. stainless.

Squirreled away in the Hidden Valley gated community in Coldwater Canyon – where other owners include Adele, Cameron Diaz, Katy Perry, Ashton Kutcher and Nicole Kidman – the single-story home sports 4,600 square feet of visually dominated living space by rich woodwork, long corridors and glass walls. The sky-lit courtyard entrance leads to various living areas, and a master bedroom flaunts a private office and built-in bathtub. There are four guest bedrooms, including a separate “children’s wing”.

Outside, the nearly half-acre expanse is shaded by mature trees and enveloped in lush gardens painstakingly designed by Judy Kameon of Elysian Landscapes. A stone patio surrounds the perfectly rectangular swimming pool, which is served by a barbecue and a bar.

No word yet on DeGeneres and Rossi’s next step in their fast-moving real estate carousel, but the couple still own at least three estates in North Montecito, including a $21 million Moorish-influenced mansion and a historic $14.3 million ranch. which dates from the late 1800s.
