Songwriter Ryan Tedder’s Stunning Mid-Century Modern Home – DIRT

Writing and producing bombastic pop songs (“Halo” by Beyoncé, “Bleeding Love” by Leona Lewis, “Rumor Has It” by Adele, “Apologize” by OneRepublic) made Ryan Tedder almost infinitely rich. Now, the Oklahoma native hopes some of that hit magic has rubbed off on his Beverly Hills home, which just listed for $16.5 million. That’s almost $5 million more than Tedder and his wife Genevieve paid for the place seven years ago.

By 2015, when the Tedders purchased it, the classic 1960s mid-century modern home had been freshly remodeled by famed interior designers Trip Haenisch and Hadi Halawani. Since then, a comparison of photos from yesterday and today’s listing reveals that not much has changed other than the addition of fresh paint and some designer light fixtures.

Still, it’s clear that this place is move-in ready. Set behind large gates on a half-acre cul-de-sac lot, the property includes a flat parking area that can accommodate six cars, as well as a three-car garage. The single-storey house displays large public rooms; a living room and dining/family area are bisected by a huge double-sided fireplace clad in exotic grain stone. A minimalist kitchen is Euro-chic in its simplicity, with white cabinets and high-end stainless steel appliances, including a glass-fronted refrigerator.

There are six bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms on-site, and the master suite has pocket glass doors that open directly to the backyard. There is also a glass enclosed shower with two rain shower heads, as well as a bathtub and a large closet. A sky-lit gym, sauna, and office round out amenities in more than 5,000 square feet of interior space.

Given LA’s (usually) mild climate, it’s no surprise that Tedder’s Garden is one for fun and relaxation. Flanking the particularly large pool are several outdoor fire pits and an outdoor kitchen serving a built-in bar. Grassy lawns are ideal for recreation and the entire property is surrounded by tall trees for added privacy and serenity.

Listed by Tracy Tutor at Douglas Elliman, the home is located in Trousdale Estates, a hyper-desirable Beverly Hills neighborhood filled with groovy mid-century modern homes. In fact, Tedder owned another one a few blocks from the house he’s currently selling. In 2017, the Grammy winner sold this second home to Cindy Crawford, who then turned it over to the billionaire founder of WhatsApp.

It’s not yet clear where Tedder is moving to, but the 43-year-old still owns several other homes, including a lavish condo in the West Hollywood Edition complex that’s currently up for sale and in receivership with an unknown buyer, and a West of $8 million.
